Jafeth E. Sanchez, Ph.D, the Director of the Latino Research Center (LRC) at the University of Nevada, Reno, is the recipient of Every Mind Matters’ first Champion Award. Dr. Sanchez understood very early the value of our work and offered her full and consistent support to our program, offering valuable advice, making important introductions and helping us win the trust of donors, students and potential Board candidates.

Dr. Sanchez’ tireless efforts at the LRC demonstrates her commitment and dedication to making the University more welcoming and supportive to underprivileged students and first-generation students, and helping the University community understand the Latino culture and condition in the Truckee Meadows. The impact of her work has actually helped many students, and not just Latinos, to seek a better future for themselves and their families through higher education.
